Health Education is home to The UConn Sexperts. This peer education group presents programs to students across campus in student groups, Greek Life and residence halls. The Health Education Office is very proud of the UConn Sexperts for receiving several national and regional awards.


To promote positive and responsible health to UConn students; respecting people’s individual choices and creating awareness of sexual health issues that include both on and off campus resources. To promote awareness of stress management skills and coping strategies that include both on and off campus resources.

The UConn Sexpert Group Objectives:

  • Educate UConn students about safer sex strategies
  • Educate UConn students about STI and pregnancy resources
  • Educate UConn students about stress management strategies and resources

The UConn Sexpert Individual Objectives:

  • Practice public speaking skills
  • Practice group facilitation skills
  • Practice programs as a team
  • Learn resources on and off campus for sexual health and stress management
  • Refer students to resources on and off campus
  • Develop personal goals at the beginning of the semester and review mid-semester

  • Spring Break Taboos

The UConn Sexpert Commitment:

  • 3 hours a week total, comprised of:
    • One programming night each week (Monday, Tuesday or Thursday) from 6:30-8:30pm
    • Mandatory weekly meetings each Thursday from 5-6pm
  • Training occurs during our weekly meeting and at the mandatory Saturday training at the beginning of each semester
  • This is one mandatory Late Night event and one mid-semester meeting with the Health Education Coordinator each semester
  • During the semester there will also be other opportunities to volunteer
