The National Institutes of Health (NIH) have identified adolescents and young adults (ages 12 to 25 years) as a population at high risk for problem sleepiness based on “evidence that the prevalence of problem sleepiness is high and increasing with particularly serious consequences”. (NIH, 1997).

Show Us Your Bedhead!

To promote and reward student’s good sleeping patterns, the Health Education Office has created a “Show Us Your Bedhead Contest”. Send the following information to us: how many hours of sleep and a picture of your best bedhead along with your name and phone number to healthed@uconn.edu. We’ll hang your picture up in our Relaxation Station, where visitors will be able to vote for their favorite bedhead. You don’t have to send in a picture of your face. People who want to enter and remain anonymous can send in a photo of the back of their head. At the end of every month, the person with the most votes will receive a prize bag containing an eye mask, ear plugs, hot beverage packet, water bottle, and a stuffed sheep toy.
